lyrics

DIFUNTOS DE NIQUITAO

Si estan alentaos los indios de
Niquitao sera por que el cielo
con fuerza ha brillao
Si estan alentaos los difuntos
de Niquitao sera por que han
visto a sus hijos luchar
por sus cosechas, contra su
pobreza.

Salieron del volcan,llegaron a
Esticho, vieron a Santiago tejiendo

NIQUITAO'S DECEASED

If the deceased of Niquitao are
heartened it is perhaps because
of heaven’s mighty glow, if the deceased
of Niquitao's are heartened, it is perhaps
because they have seen their sons fight
for their harvests, against their poverty.

They departed from the volcano and
arrived at Esticho, they witnessed Santiago
weaving his love upon the crafted loom of
an Indian and laughing, to the sky he rose.

Blanketed the weaver rests upon the fields
of Esticho, light breeze of the mountain
range and the frailejon, sheep's wool,
moonshine and chewing tobacco.

Indigenous song in the Andes
soothing song
the canes of the mountains sound
and soothe the good people of the fields.
